HowestgoesUganda 2014-15

HOWEST is participating in a training program for the Ugandan "Mountains of the Moon University". As part of a VLIRUOS IUC-project, HOWEST academic staff from the faculty of NMCT will provide training for their Ugandan colleagues of the faculty of Informatics and Computing Science.

Between September 1st and September 5th, HOWEST staff (Ivo De Pauw, Lies Pinket, Kevin DeRudder, Tom Decavele en Wannes De Smet) will contribute in Uganda as an expert-partner in a big and prolonged VLIRUOS-project for the promising Mountains Of The Moon University in Fort-Portal, Uganda. During this mission, there is a busy programm of courses (web programming, database, WLAN-infrastructure (in collaboration with CISCO) and fibre technology (in collaboration with the province of West-Vlaanderen). Also, HOWEST will assist with the startup of a new study program for the Faculty of Technology. A sustainable Memorandum of Understanding will be solemnly signed at the end of the mission. 

Last autumn, two Ugandan IT-colleagues of the Mountains of the Moon University already had a successful training within the international semester "Applied Computer Science" of HOWEST.
